Sun, Sea, and Serenity

Day 1:

Embark on a journey with us as we recount an unforgettable long weekend in the paradisiacal islands of Formentera and Ibiza. Our adventure began in Ibiza, the renowned Balearic gem known for its vibrant nightlife and stunning landscapes. However, we set our sights on a slightly different experience, combining the serene beauty of Formentera with the historic charm of Ibiza’s old town.

We landed in Ibiza, greeted by the warm Mediterranean breeze and the promise of adventure. Without wasting a moment, we took the ferry to Formentera, an island celebrated for its unspoiled beaches and tranquil ambiance. Our home for the next two days was Hotel Roca Bella, ideally situated right on the beach of El Pujols.

Upon checking in, we were instantly captivated by the breathtaking view of the azure sea from our room. That evening, we dined at the hotel’s beachside restaurant. As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, we savored a delectable paella. The flavors of saffron, fresh seafood, and perfectly cooked rice were a delightful introduction to the culinary wonders of the islands

Day 2:

Exploring the Beauty of Ses Illets

The next morning, we set out for Ses Illets, one of Formentera’s most iconic beaches. With its powdery white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters, Ses Illets is nothing short of a paradise. The shallow waters and gentle waves made it perfect for a relaxing swim. The natural beauty of this beach is truly mesmerizing, and it’s easy to see why it’s often ranked among the best in the world.

For lunch, we chose a beachfront restaurant at Ses Illets, indulging in fresh seafood and local specialties. The combination of delicious food, a gentle sea breeze, and stunning views made for an idyllic dining experience.

That evening, we returned to El Pujols and enjoyed dinner at Bocasalina. The restaurant’s modern yet rustic atmosphere was both inviting and charming. The menu offered a delightful mix of traditional Spanish dishes with a contemporary twist, each plate beautifully presented and bursting with flavor.

Day 3:

Discovering Ibiza’s Historic Charm

The following day, we bade farewell to Formentera and took the ferry back to Ibiza. Our destination was the historic town center, known as Dalt Vila, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Our accommodation, La Torre del Canonigo, was a perfect choice, offering a blend of historic charm and modern luxury. The hotel’s location provided stunning views of the old town and the harbor, creating a sense of timelessness.

We spent the day wandering the cobblestone streets of Dalt Vila, exploring ancient fortifications, and soaking in the rich history and culture. The architecture and ambiance transport you back in time, offering a glimpse into Ibiza’s storied past.

Ibiza Beaches

We ventured to Ses Salines beach, famous for its lively atmosphere and beautiful scenery, as well as Cala Bassa, a picturesque cove with golden sands and clear waters. Both beaches offered a perfect combination of relaxation and excitement, catering to every kind of beach lover.

As our long weekend drew to a close, we couldn’t help but wish for more days to explore the myriad of other beaches and hidden gems these islands have to offer. A boat tour, we realized, would have been an ideal way to discover more secluded spots and enjoy the beauty of the islands from a different perspective.

Our long weekend in Formentera and Ibiza was a delightful blend of relaxation, exploration, and culinary delights. From the pristine beaches of Formentera to the historic charm of Ibiza’s old town, every moment was filled with wonder and joy. These islands offer a perfect escape for those seeking both tranquility and adventure. We look forward to our next visit, with plans to uncover even more of their hidden treasures.
